TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE - II
Weekly Reflection - 1
As part of the B.Ed curriculum, in Semester IV we are required to complete a 30-day teaching practice to gain hands-on classroom experience and improve our teaching skills. I am currently undertaking this practice at GHS, Thalachira, where I have the opportunity to interact with students, apply effective teaching strategies, and observe the functioning of a school environment. This internship phase serves as a valuable platform to enhance professional competence, refine classroom management skills, and bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real teaching situations.
DAY - 1( 05 NOVEMBER 2025)
The first day of my Semester 4 teaching practice at GHS Thalachira on 5th November 2025 began on a positive note as I completed the initial formalities by meeting the Principal and signing in, which helped me settle into the school environment smoothly. I handled my first class for Class 8B during the third period and introduced the topic “Ratios” through interactive questioning, which kept the students actively engaged and made the session lively; the class was peer-observed by David, adding to my confidence. In the afternoon, I received valuable guidance and orientation from my mentor, Sajeev Sir, and also assisted with routine responsibilities like the noon meal and student dispersal, which helped me adapt to the school schedule. Overall, it was a refreshing and motivating first day that helped me regain my teaching rhythm with renewed enthusiasm.
DAY - 2( 06 NOVEMBER 2025)
The second day of my teaching practice began smoothly as we reached the school by 9:20 a.m., signed the attendance register, and settled into the staff room, followed by a brief interaction with my mentor that boosted my confidence for the day. The forenoon brought a sense of civic awareness as officials from the Election Commission visited the school to spread information regarding the upcoming Panchayat elections, creating an engaging atmosphere. I had the third period in class VIII B. We continued with our routine responsibilities by assisting with the noon meal distribution and afternoon dispersal duties. Overall, the day was productive, well-organized, and highlighted noticeable improvement in classroom engagement, making the experience even more encouraging.
DAY - 3( 07 NOVEMBER 2025)
The third day of my teaching practice on 7th November 2025 unfolded smoothly with a familiar routine as the school began at 9:30 a.m., and we reached early to mark attendance and settle in. I had the usual third period. After the class, I resumed the assigned duties, and as part of the midday routine, we assisted teachers with the noon meal distribution, followed by post-lunch responsibilities. The day concluded with dispersal duty at 4:00 p.m., after which we signed out and left for home, ending a steady, organized, and productive day of teaching practice.
