Art Education & Theatre Practice Workshop
The one-day workshop on Art Education and Theatre Practice held at Baselious Marthoma Mathews II Training College under the expert guidance of Mr. Satheesh G. Nair provided an enriching experience for students and aspiring theatre practitioners. The workshop emphasized the importance of sound, body, and mind in drama, highlighting their role in effective stage performance. Participants explored how voice modulation, clarity, and rhythm contribute to expressive dialogue delivery, while physical movements, gestures, and posture enhance character portrayal. Mental focus, emotional intelligence, and creativity were also discussed as essential elements that bring authenticity to a performance. Mr. Satheesh G. Nair engaged the attendees in interactive discussions and demonstrations, offering valuable insights into the synergy between these three aspects in theatre practice.
The session featured various activities designed to strengthen the connection between sound, body, and mind, ensuring a holistic approach to drama. Breathing exercises and vocal warm-ups helped participants understand the power of voice projection and articulation. Body movement exercises, including mime and improvisation drills, allowed them to explore space utilization and non-verbal expression. Additionally, mindfulness activities and concentration exercises aimed at enhancing stage presence and emotional depth in performances. The suitable utilization of the stage was also a key focus, with lessons on blocking, spatial awareness, and audience engagement. The workshop successfully provided a hands-on experience, helping participants refine their theatrical skills while fostering creativity and confidence in stage performance.
